Artist statement

I ultimately chose to photograph an airport. My motives boil down to expressing the sense of adventure and mystery airports hold. My 3 images reflect my feelings, albeit the degree to which each communicates it varies.

The first image, with no particular title, portrays a mech from AC6 and The Invincible ship. Maybe a battle is about to occur? Who knows? I tried to make this peaceful place once joyed with green hues into a theater of violence (Mechanical). What once was the landing/takeoff ramp is now scorched.

The second image doesn’t have much nuance aside from woah, space? The background was taken from an in-game screenshot of ULTRAKILL. I love this level. And I used it for an unreal scenario where somehow the Airplane fuel pump is now in space. Some sections of the airport were taken into another reality, or to Hell? Another theater, this time for fraud. I swear this makes sense with some context of the game lore.

Lastly, I have my favorite-I think. It’s about real phenomena taken to an extreme. Its essence, I would describe as: if you stare at a still image for long enough with no change in the image, your brain will start to hallucinate. Your gaze into the abyss will have your brain paint wild things onto this pitch-black canvas of abyss. In this image, the observer had taken a good time staring at the ramp light, long enough for the sky around him to start being absorbed by it. Consumed by light, it unveils what’s behind the curtains the sky represents. Behind it, he subconsciously decided to paint a jellyfish blissfully floating in space (?)
